16inch open fire burning wood with a little coal
Seems grate ( Pun !!!) In use already and seems fine but they all do....at first ! Will treat it with care and hope to get 4 or 5 years out of it. Fire lit most days so it's a hard life, but this is a middle-of-nowhere place. "Rubbish"
( anything that won't re-use, recycle or compost) goes on the fire. Howling gales ensure a good "draw" up the chimney and a pretty hot burn which reduces the air pollution but hits the grate pretty hard... I still reckon burning is better than landfill for the tiny amount of rubbish I generate.

The grate is good quality and heavy duty. We have used it several times now with mixed fuel and I anticipate it will last a good while.
